Curriculum vitae

Prof. Dr. Ramin Tavakoli Kolagari has been working at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Nuremberg Institute of Technology since the winter term 2011/2012, initially representing the software engineering area. Since 2017, he has served as a research professor in the field of software development for safe and reliable autonomous vehicle systems.

His research interests cover the entire range from the early phases of software development and software architecture to software reuse and implementation for the software of autonomous cars, with a special focus on quality in terms of safety and security.

The increasing spread of machine learning (ML) approaches in modern automotive software offers exciting research challenges to systematically develop high quality systems that are trustworthy and transparent. With the integration of approaches of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence and methods from empirical research into automotive software engineering, he is continuing the relevant groundwork in the development of automotive information models.

Prof. Tavakoli studied computer science and business administration at the Technical University of Berlin. He received his doctorate in requirements engineering and software product lines from the University of Ulm.

He did internships at the University of Ulm and held several lectures at the Technical University of Berlin. He has researched and published on software reuse in general and software product lines in particular. Today his research is focused on model-based development; explicit languages for describing the system and software architecture of vehicle ECUs.

After his studies Prof. Tavakoli worked in the research departments of international automotive manufacturers in Germany and abroad in the fields of software development, software architecture and model-based development. In addition to his work in the business areas, he was involved in various European research projects.
