The Ohm Choir

The student choir at the Ohm is open to students from all Faculties.

Pieces, mostly selected from the pop music genre, are studied during the semester and performed at the end of the semester as part of events and concerts.

When and where does the choir at the Ohm meet?

Choir practice is always held during the lecture period of the current semester on Tuesday from 7.30 - 9.00 pm in the “Theatersaal” (Building BL, Room.T01).

How can I sign up?

Participants can register in VirtuOhm.

Note: It is only possible to join the choir at the start of a semester. Unfortunately, it is unable to accept new members after this time due to upcoming performances.

The Giga-Ohm Band

The Ohm’s big band comprises students, faculty, and staff from the Ohm.

The band plays classic big band jazz, but the programme also includes Latin and pop pieces. The band performs at various events.
This semester, we’re looking for a new vocalist! Most instrument chairs are covered, but interested players are always welcome to get in touch, as turnover in a university big band is typically high. Vocalists and musicians must have solid music reading skills and knowledge. Experience with improvisation is welcome, but not required.

When and where does the band meet?

Rehearsals take place on Thursdays at 7.00 pm in the “Theatersaal” (Building BL, Room.T01).

How can I sign up?

Contact the leader of the band, Norbert Weigand, if you are interested or have questions.
A two-semester commitment is expected.

Brassohmsemble

In winter semester, Kerstin Dikhoff, trombonist and “Landesposaunenwartin” will offer a workshop for brass players again.
Musicians with good playing skills, ideally with experience in brass choirs or brass ensembles, are invited to participate in the workshop. We are particularly, but not exclusively, in need of lower voices (trombones, baritones, etc.). Sheet music is available in C notation and B-flat notation.

When and where does the Ohmsemble meet?

The following rehearsal dates are currently set: 18 Nov, 25 Nov, 2 Dec, 9 Dec, and 16 Dec, always at 7.00 pm

How can I sign up?
