The “Studierendenwerkbeitrag” (Student Services fee) is determined each semester by the responsible student services organisation, the Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg, and published according to the regulations. The fee is currently 82 euros per semester.

If you are newly admitted, the exact amount is also stated in your admission letter.

 

⏰ Deadline

First-year and transfer students must pay the Student Services fee in the full amount by the date of enrolment stated in the admission letter.

If payment is not made by the deadline, enrolment will not be possible. 

How to pay the Student Services fee (“Studierendenwerkbeitrag”)

At the end of your online enrolment, you can make the payment:

  1. Click on the button labelled “Finish and charge fees
  2. Then click on “Pay semester fee
  3. The 💳 PayPage of ePayBayern will automatically open.

You must have a PayPal account or a credit card (Mastercard or VISA) to use ePayBayern.

 

Payment is not completed?

If the payment could not be completed or was interrupted:

  • Open “My applications
  • Click on “Edit enrollment data and pay
  • This will bring you to the last steps of the online enrolment process.

This button is only active during the enrolment period.

 

Refunds

of the Student Services fee for first-year and transfer students who do not begin their studies

Should you not wish to begin your studies despite having already completed enrolment, it is only possible to obtain a refund of the Student Services fee if the university receives a refund request (“Antrag auf Rückerstattung”) by the following deadlines.

  • Summer semester: until 14 March
  • Winter semester: until 30 September

If you do not intend to enrol, please email us this information within the enrolment period at studienbuero@th-nuernberg.de.  

If you have paid the Student Services fee, your payment will be refunded automatically.

 

After the deadline

If your email is received after the deadline, a refund will no longer be possible.

In this case, you must:

  1. request to be removed from the student register (dis-enrolled) in the StudyOhm portal
  2. request a refund from the Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg, directly

Applicants who did not receive an offer of admission / study place

→ the Student Services fee will be automatically refunded.

Graduates

Students who have completed their degree in the current semester, but registered for the upcoming semester from a sense of precaution

→ the Student Services fee will be automatically refunded. (within 4 weeks after being disenrolled)

 

Registering for the semester

If you intend to continue your studies in the next semester, you must pay the Student Services fee and register for the semester by the deadline.

Exemption from the collective contribution towards the semester ticket or the Student Services fee is only possible for:

  • Severely disabled persons who hold a severely disabled person’s pass and are also able to prove entitlement to free carriage on public transport by means of a stamp from the Office for Family and Social Welfare.
     
  • Students who are enrolled in more than one higher education institution at the same time and are exempt from payment of Student Services fees in accordance with Article 121, paragraph 4, line 2 of the BayHIG.
     
  • Students who would like to complete a semester abroad (for study or internship) and would like to request a leave according to Article 5, paragraph 3 of the Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg’s regulations for the “Solidarbeitrag”.

Please submit your application for exemption during the registration period, plus the necessary documentation, together with your enrolment documents or when you register to continue your studies in the upcoming semester, to studienbuero@th-nuernberg.de.

If you are spending time abroad, please upload your application for exemption in StudyOhm when you request your leave of absence.

 

Please note: As of winter semester 2023/2024 the “Solidarbeitrag” has not being charged and the semester ticket is not being offered. Exemptions are therefore no longer possible.
