China: CDHAW Summer School in Shanghai

CDHAW Summer School in Shanghai

 

The CDHAW Summer School aims to offer students a comprehensive insight into China, especially Shanghai, and into the country’s culture, language, and economy. The programme includes cultural and language lessons and numerous cultural activities, such as traditional Chinese handicrafts, excursions to other cities, villages, and natural areas, and artistic performances and exhibitions.

 

The CDHAW Summer School offers a unique, first-hand opportunity to get to know Tongji University and China as a potential destination for studying abroad and to reduce potential obstacles.

 

Students are also given an exclusive opportunity to immerse themselves in the Chinese economy and visit major companies. Previous highlights have included well-known companies such as Liebherr, ZF, BYD, and Foxconn amongst numerous other innovative companies.

 

The CDHAW Summer Schools have proved to be a comprehensive and inspiring experience that not only promotes cultural exchange, but also offers valuable insights into China’s dynamic economy and innovative strength. Participants return to their home campuses with profound impressions and a deeper understanding of the relationship between Germany and China.

 

The programme is specifically designed for students in all fields of study.

The following courses are being offered: Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Facility Technology, Industrial Engineering.

 

Transfer credits (ECTS):

 

Chinese language and culture: the language courses are beginner level.

 

The language of instruction is mostly German, some courses are taught in English.

 

Participants who complete the summer school will receive a certificate that lists the course contents. In past summer schools, the course has been recognised with 3 credits, which may be recognised for transfer credits at your home university. Transfer credits are, of course, decided by your home university. We cannot influence that decision, therefore, we ask that you take steps to determine the transferability of credits with your university in advance of your participation.

 

Please note that transfer credits are subject to the regulations of your home university and the number of credits may vary in future summer schools.

 

To receive the certificate, you must pass the final examination, which is a group examination.

India: Summer School of the Bavarian-Indian Center for Business and University Cooperation

India, the land of a thousand cultures and colours.

BayIND has offered a three-week summer school in south India since 2013 to give Bavarian students an opportunity to see the diversity India offers.

The Summer School is a study-related excursion that takes place in August and September in south India (depending on the programme, in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala). The programme focuses on presenting the various facets of the subcontinent in the areas of higher education, business, and culture. The programme varies each year, but always includes university lectures, contact with Indian students, company visits, and cultural excursions.

Summer School participants benefit from partial funding from BayIND that covers fees and local transportation. Costs for international travel, accommodations, and board must be covered by participants themselves. The estimated costs for two-and-a-half weeks is around 1,200 euros. It may be possible to request funding from your home university for a travel mobility to participate in the Summer School. Contact your International Office to find out more about funding opportunities.

Participation in the Summer School programme may be transferable towards electives in your degree programme. This depends on your respective study and examinations regulations and can be discussed on an individual basis with BayIND. Indonesia: Tropical Architecture Summer School | Application deadline: 15 June 2025

Tropical Architecture Summer School

An intensive, four-week course at the IDB Bali that focuses on tropical and sustainable design - perfect for everyone who wants to quickly dig deep into the topic. Students can expect a balanced mix of theory and practice: they will gain knowledge through workshops, excursions, and guest lectures and put that knowledge into practice in their own design projects.

Korea: Konkuk University International Summer School 2025 | Application deadline: 31 May 2025

The International Summer School (ISS) at Konkuk University (KU) is a four-week long program summer school that provides a great opportunity for international students to learn about the history, language and culture of Korea. The program is recommended to all students who wish to gain an in-depth understanding of Korea and enjoy their summer to the fullest while experiencing unique extracurricular programs and field trips. Join our program to broaden your perspective and make your summer unforgettable with peers around the world.

 

All Courses are taught in English. Each session is 3 credits.

Academic performance of a student will be assessed at the end of the program, and a certificate of completion will be issued as requested. Students will be informed of the finalized course schedule by email prior to their arrival.
