The Ohm offers a limited number of partial scholarships provided by the DAAD. These scholarships are awarded for special dedication to the university or as degree support for students who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in situations of great difficulty. Only international students who obtained their university entrance qualification outside Germany can apply.

Scholarships for special dedication to the university

The Ohm awards scholarships for special dedication to international students pursuing their degree at the Ohm. The grants provide support to international students at our university and are financed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office.

International students (undergraduate or master’s students), who have completed their first year of study. 
→ Exchange students, who are enrolled at the Ohm for only one or two semesters and will not be completing their degree at the Ohm are not eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship amount: 300 euros / month 

Scholarship duration:

  • Summer semester: April - July (4 months)
  • Winter semester: October - December (3 months)
  • Engagement in the university community for at least one semester
  • Excellent (‘very good’ to ‘good’) academic achievements

  • Personal statement describing your special contributions to the university community and documents/certificates supporting the special contributions / activities in the community
  • CV, formatted as a table
  • Current transcript (indicating the grade point average)
  • Documentation of income from employment (student jobs), if applicable
    The DAAD stipulates:
    If the sum of the grant (300 euros) and gross additional monthly income exceeds 1,595.00 euros, the scholarship amount for the respective month(s) shall be reduced by the difference.

DAAD final thesis grant

The Ohm awards grants for the final thesis phase to international students pursuing their degree at the Ohm. The grants provide support to international students at our university and are financed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. 

International students, who are in the final thesis phase of their studies.

Scholarship amount: 500 euros / month

Scholarship duration:

  • Summer semester: April - July (4 months)
  • Winter semester: October - December (3 months)
  • Student will complete their degree by the end of winter semester 2026/27
  • Excellent (‘very good’ to ‘good’) academic achievements
  • Financial distress or need

  • Current transcript (indicating the grade point average)
  • Documentation of financial need, e.g., bank account statements, an account of your expenses, and wage statements, if applicable
  • Confirmation/endorsement/letter of support from your thesis supervisor, if the thesis supervisor is set (this may be a separate email)
