The Computer Science and Media bachelor’s degree programme is an applied computer science-based degree programme with a correspondingly high level of focus on the practical aspects. It imparts, on a scientific basis, the knowledge from the fields of practical and applied computer science that is required for the purposes of developing, deploying, and operating information processing systems.

The processing of media data within computer systems represents a specific specialization and area of application, together with the design and implementation of the human-machine interface. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) will qualify you to take on skilled specialist and leadership tasks.

Both the study of Computer Science and Media and its professional activities place high demands on the ability to recognize the essential requirements from complex tasks with many interfaces and boundary conditions and to describe them in an analysis model, to develop a solution concept from these requirements and to realize this with the means of information technology.

For this bachelor’s degree programme, there are formal requirements that you must fulfil in order to be able to start the degree programme. There are also a number of personal requirements that you should meet.

  • Required language certificates:

    The language of instruction in this degree programme is German. Applicants with a different native language who do not hold a German bachelor’s degree and have not completed a German-language education at a higher education institution must provide one of the following certificates:

    • German Language Examination for University Admission for foreign applicants (DSH level 2)

    • Test of German as a Foreign Language with above-average results (TestDaF; level 4 or higher in all 4 parts of the examination)

    • Telc German C1 University

Common stumbling blocks

Mathematical knowledge is the basis of Computer Science and Media. First of all, you are expected to do what is actually self-evident: to master the material taught in school up to the secondary school level I certificate (elementary mathematics).
