If you want to study at a German university, you will need to show that you have a so-called university entrance qualification, in German, “Hochschulzugangsberechtigung” (HZB).

In principle, it is possible to have periods of study, academic achievements, professional and training periods, and work experience recognised if they are equivalent.

There are two types of processes

  • Transferring credits from coursework completed at another university
  • Recognition of competence gained outside of academic settings

 

The examination board of the respective degree programme decides on the equivalence, form, and level of recognition upon request.
