The Mechanical Engineering master’s degree programme is aimed at engineers with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (7 semesters or 210 credits) or related fields. This master’s degree programme will enable them to increase their knowledge of demanding subject areas and to obtain further professional qualifications.

The Mechanical Engineering master’s degree programme aims to provide students with an application and research-oriented qualification. The Mechanical Engineering master’s degree programme at Nuremberg Tech comprises a standard period of study of three semesters (90 credits) and offers you the opportunity to undergo practical training and to focus on research at an early stage of your studies.

You can choose from a large selection of modules to build your own course of study in a flexible manner and in accordance with your interests. We offer you the opportunity to qualify in one of the following four areas of specialization during your studies: energy technology (ET), automotive engineering (FZ), product development (PD), or production technology (PT).

Information on admission

Admission requirements for this master’s programme are a successful degree in a bachelor's or “Diplom” programme in Mechanical Engineering with 210 credits, in particular the bachelor’s programme in Mechanical Engineering at Nuremberg Tech, or an equivalent degree, as well as relevant professional experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering outside the university of at least one year, unless the university degree or the equivalent degree included a relevant practical period in the field of mechanical engineering of at least 20 weeks. Details of admission are regulated in the Study and Examination Regulations.

Documentation of language proficiency:

The language of instruction in this degree programme is German. Applicants who are native speakers of a language other than German, who do not have bachelor’s degree from a German educational institution, and who have not completed German-language vocational or professional training at secondary school must provide one of the following certificates as documentation of their German proficiency:

  • German language examination for the university admission of foreign applicants (DSH-Stufe 2)
  • Test of German as a Foreign Language with above-average results (TestDaF; level 4 or higher in all 4 parts of the examination)
