DAAD Prize

DAAD Prize for excellent achievements of international students at German universities

The DAAD Prize of 1,000 euros, which has been awarded for over ten years, is intended to individualize the high number of international students at German universities and to connect them with stories. This conveys that every individual international student takes a piece of Germany back to their home and leaves a part of themselves in Germany - an enrichment in both directions. The students who have received this prize from their respective host university represent their fellow students from around the world. They are future partners for Germany in business, politics, and academia.

Timur Issayenko convinced the members of the commission with his excellent academic performance and his many years of and diverse ways of engaging in the community at Nuremberg Tech.

The selection committee was especially impressed by Issayenko’s contributions to the “Mut zum Studium” project. His efforts were especially evident during the coronavirus pandemic when he independently developed creative ways to help new students feel supported as they began their university studies, despite having no opportunity to meet in person. In addition, Issayenko made himself available as a personal contact for prospective students coming from secondary to tertiary education as one of a team of students that went on school visits and at educational fairs along with the Student Counseling Service. Furthermore, he is part of the online counseling project “Studi-Talks: Ask those who know”. As a student guide, he provides information to prospective students about applying to and studying at university.
