In this state-of-the-art laboratory, 16 students can simultaneously learn the basic practical working methods of organic synthesis.

In addition to safety aspects and the correct design of the synthesis apparatus, the training programme includes an understanding of the reaction mechanisms underlying the syntheses performed.

The students also learn how to characterize the manufactured products in order to ensure that the experiments are successful. For this purpose, the laboratory has analytical equipment for melting point determination, infrared spectroscopy, refractometry, and thin-layer chromatography.

A total of ten fume cupboards are located in the fully equipped laboratory, which is fitted with a central vacuum and nitrogen inert gas supply, so that safe and convenient working is guaranteed.
