Doctoral programme at CARRI

The Ohm offers various opportunities to pursue doctoral degrees. Together with the HM Munich University of Applied Sciences and the OTH Regensburg, the Ohm applied for so-called doctoral research centers that allow universities of applied science to award doctoral degrees in specific fields. The Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts approved the cross-university doctoral research center for doctorates in the area of “Applied Research for Responsible Innovation (CARRI)” to the HM Munich University of Applied Sciences (“Sitzhochschule”) and the Ohm’s Faculty of Business Administration on 26 September 2023.

CARRI - Center for Applied Research for Responsible Innovation

At the Center for Applied Research for Responsible Innovation (CARRI), doctoral candidates in business administration and economics, tourism research, business informatics, and entrepreneurship develop solutions to shape the socio-ecological transformation and society in a sustainable way and to create new value creation strategies, innovative business models, and social innovations and transfer them into practice. In doing so, they pursue interdisciplinary approaches and stand for responsible entrepreneurship.

The cross-university doctoral research center, CARRI, is a joint scientific institution of the HM Munich University of Applied Sciences and the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm. It was granted the right to award doctorates by the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts on 26 September 2023

Doing a doctorate at CARRI
Graduates of economics and related subjects can earn the academic degree, Dr. rer. pol. at CARRI. It is the first, and currently the only, doctoral research center at Bavarian universities of applied sciences that has been granted the right to award doctorates in these fields.

At CARRI, doctoral candidates are supervised by professors with strong research records from both universities and can benefit from the wide range of subject areas and support and networking structures at both universities. In consultation with the doctoral candidates, CARRI offers a special doctoral programme. For example, regular workshops on theories and methods are offered. Additionally, the cooperating universities offer a general doctoral programme.
