Laboratory courses in microbiology and bioprocess engineering are conducted in KT.321; the room is equipped with standard working spaces for carrying out routine activities. Research and development is also conducted in this lab. Objectives in microscopy, microbiology, molecular biology, and bioprocess engineering can also be pursued in the lab. To this end, the following equipment is available, amongst others:

• sterile bench

• incubators, drying chambers, and freezers

• incubator shakers (incl. lighted) for breeding microorganisms, e.g. micro-algae

• microscope with phase contrast capabilities

• fluorescence microscope

• EUROMEX small binoculars illuminated by an external light guide

• counting chambers, micrometry accessories (object micrometer + measuring eyepieces), polarization accessories, staining accessories, microphotography adapter sets

• photometer and plate reader

• GeneVac (centrifugal concentrator), centrifuges, refrigerated centrifuge

• shaking water bath, precision temperature-control water bath

• apparatus for molecular biology and biochemistry from PCR to Wester blot; plate, gel, and PCR imaging 

• exhaust hood
