Information Security and Data Protection

Information Security:

The field of information security goes beyond cryptography and theoretical security. It focuses on the practical applicability of security measures and on users in particular.
In our research, we looked at information security in its entirety, taking a risk-oriented approach and always considering the context of a specific organization.

Data protection:

In our research on data protection, we primarily look at the topic of “Privacy by Design” (PbD). We research how systems can be developed so that they respect data protection from the outset and thereby fulfil a central requirement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data protection should not be an obstacle; by using technical measures (for example anonymization and pseudonymization), we can implement a range of exciting applications in compliance with data protection regulations.
