The research fields in the SPICES lab are concentrated in the four pillars of the research agenda. We are interested in robust and energy-efficient algorithms and systems for multi-sensor fusion and antifragile control systems using neuromorphic artificial intelligences in embedded and edge devices.

Neuromorphic Artificial Intelligence

The application of principles of biologically plausible neuronal dynamics to develop robotic perception, cognition, and action loops on embedded devices.

Intelligent Multi-sensory Fusion

Design and development of algorithms for sensor fusion inspired by cortical processing to produce and integrate sensor streams on embedded devices.

Edge Intelligence (TinyML)

Design and development of efficient algorithms for dynamic data processing on devices with limited computational and storage resources and low energy requirements.

Antifragile Control Systems

Design and development of novel control theory algorithms based on principles of antifragility. Implementation of antifragile control systems using neuronal networks for energy efficient and distributed inference on edge and embedded devices.
