Small-scale combined heat and power plants

The Faculty of Process Engineering conducts applied research in the field of energy process engineering for small-scale combined heat and power generation. Compared to pure electricity generation in conventional power plants, cogeneration offers a significantly higher potential to convert the energy stored in fuels as completely as possible into net energy - electricity and heat. The aim of the investigations is to investigate and develop solutions for the generation of very small electrical outputs - e.g. of several hundred watts.
