“Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Franken”

The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Franken’s mission is to support small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) in digitalisation processes and sustainability transformation. The partners in this effort comprise a consortium of the Sustainable Innovation and Transformation Management (NIT) group from the Ohm, the AN[ki]T at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences, which heads the consortium, and the Academy for Artificial Intelligence (AKI), and the Fraunhofer IESE.

The center focuses on the fields of AI and sustainability, with the NIT group contributing expertise in the areas of sustainability management, supply chain management, greenhouse gas emissions and certificates, and sustainability transparency.

Corporate due diligence in the supply chain

The “Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz” (LkSG) stipulates that enterprises with more than 1,000 employees are obligated to analyse their supply chains for human rights and environmental risks, avoiding and preventing human rights and environmental risk in their supply chain, and take remedial action if risks in these areas are detected.

Additionally, poor refurbishment of a home can lead to energy price increases and, in turn, expenditures that impact the availability of resources elsewhere in the household budget. And conversely, refurbishment measures generally lead to an increase in rents, which results in a decrease in the low-cost flat market segment.
