Accompanying research into the development of SDGs in selected departments of the city of Nuremberg

Sustainability in various areas of society is urgently needed in order to ensure sustainable development and the prospects of future generations worldwide.
This urgent need for sustainable development is expressed in the Agenda 2030 adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 (“Transformation of our world: Agenda 2030 for sustainable development”) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted therein. A central role is assigned to the municipalities (SDG 11).

Sustainability transformation – Exploratory case study of the effects of the CSR Directive Implementation Act

Social transformation in the direction of sustainability, and economic activity oriented towards this, is a political objective in many political-economic and civic contexts in international, European and German development discussions today. However, academic analyses show that there is no ideal path towards the achievement of social change processes. Accordingly, case study-based research into the effects of (potential) political intervention will be important for an estimation of how far the (planned) interventions contribute to a sustainable transformation of economic structures.

Municipal procurement practice in the metropolitan region of Nuremberg

The municipalities regularly procure various products in order to provide public services of general interest. These also include goods which are often produced in a way that seriously violates human rights and labour laws. The public sector therefore has specific possibilities of implementing changes in the interests of sustainable and globally responsible economic activity.
