The team

Our interdisciplinary research team comprises a professor, two research associates, and an assistant. Through the Mittelstands-Digital Zentrum Franken, an additional team lead, 5 research associates, and student assistants complement the team. In addition, Ethiopian doctoral students join us each year for six months and are supervised by Professor Ebinger within the framework of their DAAD-sponsored scholarships.

Head of the research group in Sustainability Oriented Innovation and Transformation Management (NIT)

Prof. Frank Ebinger is the main contact person and provider of this project as the incumbent of the research professorship for sustainability-oriented innovation and transformation management at Nuremberg Campus of Technology at the Ohm and associate professor at the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAIoT) in Ethiopia. He studied Business Administration at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and at the University of Kassel and received his doctorate on “Management of ecological product innovation” at the University of Oldenburg. From 1995 to 1996, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Ecology and Corporate Management at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, and then a research assistant at the Öko Institute from 1996 to 2003. Most recently, he was deputy head of the twelve-member “Products & Material Flows” department. From 2003 to 2008, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Forest Economics. Between 2008 and 2012, he was an advisor to the Ethiopian Minister for Science and Technology as head of the bilateral GIZ programme component “National Quality Infrastructure Component” in the GIZ Engineering Capacity Building Programme, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, commissioned by the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. From 2012 to 2014, he was programme director of the bilateral GIZ programme “Promotion of Sustainable Economic Development” in Kyrgyzstan, commissioned by the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. From 2014 to 2017, he was Professor of Environmental Management and General Business Administration at Nuremberg Tech, and was appointed to the new professorship in 2018.
