DAAD Language Certificate

We offer the DAAD Language Certificate to document linguistic proficiency in English und Spanish. The DAAD Language Certificate is a language proficiency assessment for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This may be necessary to apply for a DAAD scholarship or to attend a university in another country, for example.

Language courses completed at the Ohm may be recognised for the purpose of the DAAD Language Certificate. Alternatively, we also offer the DAAD test. The test comprises a written component and an oral component. Levels A1 - C1 can be assessed in the areas: oral, interaction, reading, and writing. Each area is assessed individually, which means there are multiple scores, but not one overall score. You receive your DAAD Language Certificate directly after the examination has been completed.

For Ohm students and students at cooperating universitites:
Students at the Ohm and cooperating universities can use the DAAD Language Certificate to certify their language skills at no cost.

For other interested parties:
Please note that external participants are charged a fee of 30 euros for the DAAD test and for producing the certificate.

For the certificate to be considered complete, both the written and oral components must be completed. If you are unsure, whether your course meets the requirements for both areas and at what level, please contact us by email or telephone for counseling.

If you have reached level B2 in a language course, but require level C1 for a semester abroad application, you may also take the DAAD test in order to possibly demonstrate the higher level.

Written examination

If you need to do the written component for your DAAD Language Certificate, we offer multiple test dates scheduled throughout the semester.

The tests are scheduled for one hour for the test and 15 minutes in advance for arrival and identity verification.

  • Exam format: one hour, multiple choice (single answer) test with questions covering grammar, reading comprehension, and vocabulary
  • Level is determined based on the number of points achieved (60-84 points = B2; 85 points or more = C1)
