Ohm Seminar in Applied Economics

The Seminar in Applied Economics lecture series is a joint series of events by the Economics / Quantitative Methods department of the Faculty of Business Administration and the KoSIMA Competence Center. Various speakers present current topics from the field of applied economics and the related fields of business administration, sociology, psychology, etc. The seminar is open to interested researchers and students as well as to the general public.

KinderUni

Hans-Dieter Gerner and Robert Jäckle participate each year during the “Faschingsferien” in the KinderUni (Children’s University) event, offered by the City of Nuremberg. All curious children between the ages of eight and 12 are invited to learn how election forecasts work in a playful session using jelly baby samples. The Workshop on Empirical Economics took place on 30 June, organised by KoSIMA and the Faculty of Business Administration’s VWL/QUAM department. Opening of the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ) in Lauf

On Friday, 6 June 2025, the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Technology Transfer Center - Nürnberger Land took place. The work at the TTZ addresses the development of automation and production technology for industry and trade as well as sustainable solutions for attracting and retaining skilled labour. KoSIMA members, Prof. Sabine Fromm and Prof. Raphael Verstege, are involved with the TTZ along with seven other Ohm professors.

“Bleiben oder gehen? – Was hält junge Menschen im ländlichen Raum?”

As part of the project titled, “Heimat - mehr als ein Gefühl”, more than 1,100 trainees from a rural region were surveyed about their lives and their intention to remain in the region. Prof. Sabine Fromm presented the results of the survey to the board of the vocational school (Staatliche Berufsschule 1) in Ansbach.

“Heimatprojekt Bayern”: Presentation of results of the project on the lives of young people in rural areas

Initial results from a student survey conducted in rural areas were presented and discussed at an online event. Participants include the presidents and vice presidents of the universities of applied sciences in Ansbach and Amberg-Weiden, regional managers, business developers, and managing directors of the chambers of industry and commerce in those cities.
