Applied research and development within the Faculty

During the past few years, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Building Services Engineering has made expanding and supporting research in the Faculty one of its core tasks. The institutes/competence centers founded or co-founded by colleagues within the Faculty

  • Institute for Energy and Building (ieg)
  • Institute for Automotive Engineering (IFZN)
  • Institute for Chemistry, Materials, and Product Development (CMP)
  • Competence Center for Automation
  • Competence Center for Energy Engineering

form important interfaces between research and the degree programmes and contribute significantly to the development of the degree programmes. Large numbers of students complete their project papers and final theses within those institutes and competence centers.

Each year, around 22 graduates from the Faculty currently obtain doctorates connected to the research projects and doctoral supervision is provided by colleagues from within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Building Services Engineering, who are leading the research projects.
