Diversity Audit "Vielfalt gestalten" des Stifterverbandes

Nuremberg Tech regards itself as a diverse university. It celebrates the individuality of its members and diversity in research, teaching, professional development, and Administration & Services. It endeavours to remove barriers, tackle discrimination, and to use diversity as an opportunity.

As a “diverse university”, Nuremberg Institute of Technology offers attractive study opportunities for students from a wide variety of backgrounds: For example, 55% of students come from families without any academic background, around 5% of students have children, 11% are international students, and 6% are individuals with vocational qualifications without a conventional university entrance qualification. And these are just a few examples.

The diversity audit “Vielfalt gestalten”, carried out by the Stifterverband, regularly documents and evaluates the university’s activities and measures that are developed and carried out based on the goals defined within the scope of the audit.

Nuremberg Tech’s diversity goals are:

  • to make studying accessible broadly and with equal opportunity, and to gain new groups of students;
  • create conditions - oriented towards individuals - that facilitate student retention and degree completion across all diversity characteristics;
  • create a positive cooperative (working and studying) environment by means of an open, tolerant, and accepting culture;
  • use diversity as an opportunity.

As part of the initial audit in 2015 - 2017, the HSFG worked closely with representatives from various organizational units within the university to analyze the existing structures and processes, and to develop recommended actions for the university management team in keeping with the diversity management concept. The university was assisted with this by an external auditor who specialized in management and organizational development within higher education.

The university has been certified since spring 2018. You can read about the results of this process and the goals for the measures planned in the next few years in Nuremberg Tech’s Diversity Strategy . The Diversity Strategy is the permanent foundation of diversity management at Nuremberg Tech.

The first re-audit of Nuremberg Tech is in 2021. This process allows us to take stock and plan for the coming years together with experts from the Stifterverband and external peers.
