During the 6th and 7th semester, the student needs to complete electives that consist of 20 ECTS. The student is free to choose from a variety of courses that we offer according to his/her future career focus. It can be either business and/or technical electives. It is highly recommended to take this module of 20 ECTS abroad at one of our partner universities for an international experience.
After the 6th semester students will take their internship of 16 weeks in the business or technology field either in Germany or abroad. If you take your internship within the IBT Plus study option, you have to find a working possibility outside of Germany with the duration of 20 weeks. The internship should bring students closer to the job functions of organizations and companies which are operating in an international setting. It should provide an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learnt so far in the program and to evaluate the experiences they gain in their practical work. After a corresponding introduction students should carry out their task independently on their own or in a group with expert guidance. The practical experiences acquired should provide a better understanding and help students complete their studies.IBT students will benefit from our extensive company network which includes world-renown companies such as Deutsche Bank, Siemens, Adidas, Staedtler, Audi and BMW.
You will conclude your studies with a Bachelor’s Thesis with a topic in engineering, natural sciences or business, written either in German or English. It is possible to write your thesis in cooperation with a company. The thesis should show that the student is able to work independently on a problem from the subject areas of the degree program using academic methods. The problem should be systematically presented and developed, if possible solutions provided. Independent research is expected to show how to relate and apply current academic understanding to a practical or academic issue. In IBT Plus you have to write a Term Project with a technological topic before finishing your studies with your Bachelor's Thesis.
Anyone who wants to master the challenges of the 21st century must be able to understand both the language of engineering, natural sciences and of economics. Internationally operating companies are looking for individuals with innovative brains who assist them in overseeing today’s complex world markets and taking advantage of any opportunities that may arise.
The continuing globalization of the economy invariably brings about constantly changing international markets. Today as well as tomorrow, this dynamic international economy calls for highly-qualified managers with an interdisciplinary background.
As an International Business and Technology graduate, you may work in a wide variety of positions located at the intersection of business and technology. After completing your studies, you are prepared to assume management tasks in internationally-oriented companies of any scale. Not only big industrial companies, but also medium-sized businesses offer attractive job opportunities.
You may specialize in the procurement or sale of international high-tech products, or work directly in the area of product management. You may take over advisory functions, conclude business transactions, or collaborate in technological processes and developments. Other employment opportunities exist in the field of project management at the nexus of business and technology. You may also engage in technical risk assessment in the banking and insurance sector.
Overall, the job options that are open to you are plenty and varied, as you will not only acquire a profound and comprehensive knowledge base in the fields of both technology & natural sciences and economics, but also receive international training. The job prospects can be considered as very good not only at present, but also in the medium to long term.
