Application Procedure

Admission Process

How to apply for admission to non-restricted degree programs and to higher semesters

Step 1: Register on the Nuremberg Tech HISinOne application portal.

To apply for a degree program at Nuremberg Tech, you need to have an account on the HISinOne application portal. You will need to provide a valid e-mail address that all information about your application will be sent to.

Register on the HISinOne application portal and then use the login data you receive by e-mail to activate your personal account. Please create only one account – after registering once, you will be able to apply for all degree programs accepting applications within the application periods.

Step 2: Apply for admission to one or more degree programs & submit your documents

Now that you are registered, you can apply for places in the degree programs of your choice in the the HISinOne application portal. Note that you can only apply for programs during the respective application periods. To apply, you must first login to the HISinOne application portal (on the top right of the page) using the login information you received when you registered.

During the application process, you will be required to indicate your higher education entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung in German, or HZB for short). Information on the various types of higher education entrance qualifications can be found under Admission requirements.

You will find any admission requirements that are specific to your chosen program detailed on the respective program page. Please note that you have to upload all documents within the application period.

Please note that we have to reject incomplete applications without further consideration.

The documents will include:

  • copy of your Bachelor's degree in business (focus: marketing)
  • AND
copy of the transcript of records showing:
    1. the overall grade (Find here a list of selected countries and its conversion of grades into the German grading system. This list is meant as an orientation tool and subject to change. We are using the Bavarian formula to convert your grade.)
    2. the total amount of ECTS or years of study (at least 180 ECTS/3 years of study)

If certificate and transcript are not in German or English, you have to send a certified translation and certified copies of the original documents. If you have not graduated yet, you can send your (preliminary) transcript of records and submit the certified copies (and translation) of your graduation documents later.

  • copies (e.g. confirmation letters) of internships, job experiences
  • If required, an official document or transcript stating your GMAT/GRE score

  • copy of proficiency in English (see tab Admission Requirements for details)

  • For non-native speakers certification of their knowledge of German (successfully completed A1 level of the Goethe Institute; at least 120 hours of lessons attended)

In addition, you may submit:

  • Two personal references (reference letters) providing information about your academic qualifications and personal abilities (e.g. job references, recommendation letters)

  • Motivation letter

Step 3: Accept your place in a degree program

At the end of the application process, in your application account, you will be able to download your notification of acceptance (i.e. the confirmation that you have secured a place) or the rejection of your application. You will also receive an e-mail about this step.

In your application account, you will find a list of notifications of acceptance for all the degree programs to which you have applied and been offered a place.

You can now definitively accept an offer for a place in one degree program by clicking on “Annehmen”, accept.

Step 4: Enrol in your degree program (immatriculation)

Now all you need to do is to enrol for the study place you have accepted online. Only after you enrol (immatriculate), you do become a member of the Nuremberg Institute of Technology and receive student status.

First, you must enrol online. After doing so, you will find your Antrag auf Immatrikulation / Request for Enrolment in the Nuremberg Tech HISinOne application portal as a PDF. Print out this PDF document and sign it. Then send the request and the documents listed as required in that form to the Student Advisory Service at Nuremberg Tech before the deadline specified. Please make sure you include all required documents and avoid including any other documents.

If you are unable to personally sign and send your enrolment documents to Nuremberg Tech within the specified period, you may task someone else with signing and submitting your postal enrolment. In this case, just include a simple proxy statement document with your documents (e.g. “I authorize Mr/Ms... to enrol me in the program ...”). Both you and the person you authorize to carry out your enrolment should, however, be aware that any error or omission on the part of your authorized representative will lead to your exclusion from enrolment in just the same way as an error or omission of your own would.

If you are below the age of majority at the point in time at which you enrol, you must have your legal guardian sign your Request for Enrolment.

Step 5: Your Enrolment Confirmation and your OHMcard (student ID card)

As soon as your enrolment application has been processed and your eligibility for admission has been verified, you will find your enrolment documents (your preliminary confirmation of enrolment and your login information for the university IT system) ready to download in your application account.

You will also receive your OHMcard (student ID card) – either directly at the introductory sessions in your Faculty or afterwards from the Faculty office upon presentation of a current ID.

If you are already enrolled at Nuremberg Tech and have only changed to a different degree program, a new OHMcard will not be issued.
