Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the State Ministry of Science and the Arts has postponed the start of courses in the summer semester 2020 to 20 April. Please read the following information about the consequences of this decision for your studies.

All students will receive timely information when the important dates for the summer semester have been rescheduled (registration for examinations, examination period, etc.). This information will be communicated as usual on the respective university websites.

Due to the unforeseeable developments caused by the coronavirus, we kindly ask you to regularly read the internet and intranet pages of the TH Nürnberg about the situation at the university and study matters (preferably once a day). This also applies to the lecture-free period, which has now been extended to 20 April 2020.

  • The summer semester itself began on 15 March and therefore the official confirmations of enrolment are valid and student status for the summer semester is valid from this date. This applies to all students who have enrolled as new students or have registered for the summer semester 2020.

  • Only teaching activities in the classrooms, i.e. introductory events, regular courses, etc., will not occur until 20 April 2020. Digital teaching in the form of online courses as an educational supplement and/or preparation can take place immediately. Please contact your Faculty along the usual communication channels to find out about their online courses or materials.

  • Furthermore, the following facilities are closed to the public and/or educational operations:
    - Study Office / Student Advisory Service (Availability by phone or email will remain the same during the current opening hours).
    - Laboratories
    - Workshops
    - PC rooms
    - Library

If the closures have an impact on deadlines for submitting academic papers such as student research projects, project work or final theses, please read the instructions in the chapter "Examination Matters".

  • Due to a current ordinance of the Ministry of Science, the lecture period of the summer semester 2020 ends at the latest on August 7, 2020; the semester itself ends unchanged on September 30, 2020. The lecture period may be shortened by the TH Nürnberg by up to four weeks (i.e. until 10 July) if the curriculum planned for the semester is offered during the lecture period with a correspondingly condensed number of hours or in some other way that takes into account the feasibility of studying each respective curriculum..
At present it is not yet clear to what extent the TH Nürnberg will make use of this possibility to shorten the lecture period. We ask for a little patience in this respect.
  • Please take note of the Examination Committee notice issued on 20 March 2020 in which the deadlines for various examinations (= in particular, bachelor's and master's theses, semester and project papers) that expired or will expire after 13 March 2020 (Friday) were regulated. If you have questions about this information, please email studienbueroatth-nuernbergPunktde.

  • Since copy shops will also be closed, final theses (bachelor's/master's thesis) must, until further notice, only be submitted digitally in pdf format via your TH email account to the first examiner and to studienbueroatth-nuernbergPunktde in cc. Please sign the declaration that you have produced the work yourself (plagiarism declaration), scan it, and send it together with the thesis by email to the recipients named above.

Students who are in the practical semester during the current summer semester can continue their work in practice. However, it is up to the practice company to decide whether it can continue to supervise students. Students in the practical semester should therefore consult with their company.

  • Dual students (also ICS) must work in their companies during the extended lecture-free period until April 19.
  • Working students can find information on the 20 hour rule on the information page of the Studentenwerk.
  • Persons who are in a contractually regulated employment relationship with the university, e.g. student assistants and tutors, must continue to perform their contractually agreed work. For example, tutors can provide more support in the creation and implementation of digital teaching content. Please contact your immediate superior or supervisor first.
    • Applications, requests, submission of documents: we kindly ask you to clarify any concerns you may have with the university, e. g. with the Student Office, your Faculty and your professors, if possible by telephone or email.
    • BAföG: Please read the information on the website of Deutsches Studentenwerk and Studentenwerk Erlangen/Nürnberg.
    • Library: You can find actual information directly on the website of Bibliothek.
    • Mensa/Mensateria: Remain also closed, please visit the website of Studentenwerk.
    • OHMcard: Your student identity card (OHMcard) cannot currently be issued by the faculties. However, in StudyOhm new students can print out a certificate of enrolment and present it together with your identity card if required.
    • Semesterticket: For information, please visit the website of Studentenwerk.
    • Winter Semester 19/20: The winter semester is not extended by postponing the start of courses! It ends on 14 March 2020. The date 14 March 2020 is also decisive for examination and admission deadlines (e.g. submission of the pre-study internship certificate) which were set for the end of the winter semester.
Exmatriculations (removal from the university register) at the end of the winter semester are still valid as of 15 March 2020. If someone is exmatriculated at the end of the winter semester due to a failure to register, non-fulfilment of conditions, or for other reasons, the exmatriculation is legally valid from 15 March 2020.
