TRAFFIC, LOGISTICS, AND MOBILITY – a sector with dynamic growth rates. The transportation of people and goods has been increasing in industrialised countries for decades. The possibility of flexible personal mobility is an elementary component of our society. At the same time, mobility behaviour is in a constant state of flux. The processes of a global economy require the development of new, even more efficient transport concepts.

Nuremberg Tech was founded shortly before the construction of the first railway from Nuremberg to Fürth. The Competence Center for Logistics at Nuremberg Tech therefore sees itself in the tradition of competently researching and teaching about the complex challenges of the transport sector, including sustainable urban logistics. The Transport Laboratory considers all aspects of transport in order to develop innovative mobility strategies for the future.

At our institutes, competence centers, and in collaborative projects, research is being done on forward-looking technologies such as autonomous traffic management systems, renewable energy sources, and strategic and innovative traffic planning.
