For all international students: Support in the current circumstances

Some students may be very unsettled or even distressed by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic: travel restrictions, being separated from family and friends, loss of a job, the challenges of an online semester, restricted access to public authorities... many of these factors can considerably complicate the current situation.

If you are dealing with such challenges, please contact the help line at the International Office. We can provide counseling and support in the current situation.

Important information about studying during the coronavirus pandemic is available on this page.

Cultural and leisure programme

International cultural programme

At Nuremberg Institute of Technology , we have a whole range of opportunities for German and international students, university members, and guests to meet up and chat. Each semester, the International Office organizes a cultural programme offering welcome events, excursions, international evenings, museum visits,  and much more.

Club International, set up by the International Office, offers support for students and invites them to take part in other activities. If you would like to get involved in the university’s international scene, you can find additional information under “International Engagement”.

Our “Language Tandem” and “Mi Casa es tu Casa” programmes enhance our cultural programme by offering individual opportunities for intercultural meetups and international networking.

Language tandem

Language tandem

Interested in learning a foreign language or in improving your skills in a foreign language? Looking for interactive and lively interaction? If so, the Language Tandem programme is just what you are looking for! Language Tandem means that two people with different native languages work together to improve their language skills.

How does Language Tandem work?

When you register, you state your native language and other languages that you are learning and would like to improve. The International Office will then search its database for a student who is a native speaker of that language. Or you can just join the Facebook Group and search for a participant to practice your target language with.

By getting together and doing activities together, you will soon pick up valuable skills in a foreign language, while at the same time getting to know new people and cultures within our university. You can decide how you want to arrange your meetings and what you want to learn and do together.

Language tandem and restricted contact?!?

Sure! These days creativity is what is needed. The world is connected and maybe you would like to use this time particularly to network with people and learn something new! Language tandem is possible online with a little creativity and courage. There are language learning apps, you can chat, video-calls, watch foreign-language news or films - according to your interests - together, support each other with correcting texts you’ve written, and much more! Connect and be creative! It’s up to you to make it how you want it to be!

If so, please send us an email at sprachtandematth-nuernbergPunktde

How we make use of your registration details

All information is provided of your own free will. If you want us to delete your details from the Language Tandem database at any time, please let us know in writing at sprachtandematth-nuernbergPunktde . The details you provide will only be used by staff at Nuremberg Tech to match you with a language partner and will not be divulged to third parties. For matching purposes, only your name and university email will be passed on to your selected tandem partners, as a suggestion. Other data will not be passed on and can be shared with your tandem partner once you have got in touch with him/her in person and at your own discretion.

Language tandem event

Nothing is like personal exchange! Once or twice a semester, we hold our popular language tandem event! Whether virtual or in-person, you can get to know each other in language-rooms with diverse games and exchange formats in a relaxed atmosphere. Invitations are sent out regularly to everyone in our database. We look forward to seeing you there!
