The International Summer Academy for Women in Engineering (ISAE4W) offers an ideal opportunity for a selected group of highly-motivated and talented women (high school, college or undergraduate students) to experience top-class and challenging university-level coursework.
The Academy’s intensive, two and a half week programme combines sophisticated theory with hands-on practical experience in engineering and natural sciences. In addition to knowledge transfer in these fields, social, cross-cultural and gender aspects are covered and discussed during lectures and workshops.
A team of highly qualified academic staff from ISAE4W as well as from other universities and organisations will provide scientific and technical background on workshop topics and information about the role of women in science and their opportunities in scientific careers.

The Green.Building.Solutions. and Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems Summer Universities are returning to Vienna in July and August 2023!

The academic summer programs, organized by OeAD student housing and leading universities, aim on students and professionals from architecture, planning and engineering (for GBS) as well as an interested audience from all backgrounds for the AEMS.

Both summer programs last 3 weeks (fulltime) and will deal with sustainability – on the one hand by examining a futureproof construction and building sector, on the other hand by elaborating on alternative solutions at the overarching level of the economic and financial system.

Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS, 7 ECTS) Summer University provides world-leading insight into sustainable architecture and energy efficient building in a variety of lectures, excursions and workshops by national experts and practitioners. The GBS is suitable for students and professionals in the field of architecture, urban planning, energy engineering, and environmental management. A hands-on group design project aims to incorporate the gained knowledge. GBS takes place from 15 July to 6 August 2023 in Vienna. Application is now possible!

Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems (AEMS, 5 ECTS) Summer University is open to motivated applicants from all fields of study and focuses on alternatives to the economic status quo. The program follows an interdisciplinary and holistic approach: International participants deal with limits of growth, as well as the instabilities of our financial system and learn why a drastic system change is necessary to stabilize the world climate at 1.5°C – and most importantly: they are presented with an array of alternative approaches! Croatia: International “Road Safety Summer School” at the University of Zagreb

The summer school will take place from 28 August - 5 September 2023 and is a great opportunity to spend 8 wonderful days in the late summer with our faculty and earn ECTS credits.

The main goal of the school is to provide expert training related to advanced concepts and elements of road safety, increasing the knowledge and qualifications of all participants.

Partipants will work with more than 30 road safety experts from around the world, who will present state-of-the-art findings related to the main factors of road safety:

  • the human factor
  • the road and its environment
  • and the vehicle factor.

The practical part of the summer school will introduce participants to

  • the basics of traffic accident analysis based on the actual data obtained from a crash test;
  • a field road safety inspection will also be conducted.

The total workload of the summer school comprises 61 hours, which reflects 2 ECTS credits. Master’s and doctoral students will receive 2 credits after completing all planned activities.

Together with sponsors, multiple scholarships are awarded to students. Students are also eligible for support from Erasmus-funds from their home universities - support using Student Mobility for Traineeship funds is possible.

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is very glad to launch a new Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), together with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech, Spain, and the University of Naples Federico II, Italy.

This BIP is aimed at Master's and PhD students interested in the field of engineering, technology or science who wish to complement their knowledge in the area of circular economy through alternative pedagogical methodologies that combine distance and face-to-face teaching activities through a period of mobility.

 

The curricular unit includes 81 total hours, where 26 contact hours are distributed by one week (16 h) of in-person activities, including field visits, talks and group work and 10h of virtual sessions, including the introductory session, talks/seminars with experts, presentation and pre-analysis of the case studies and final presentations of the assignments:

June (3 weeks: 5 to 23 June) – virtual component

June (1 weeks: 26 to 30 June) – in-person component in Porto

July (2 weeks: 3 to 14 July) – virtual component

 

The teaching and pedagogical program will allow the student to:

- Understand the concept of circular economy, main principles, actions and models;

- Analyze the current linear models, based on practical cases, and review them in the light of the circular economy;

- Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes and products;

- Develop and influence new relations of production, distribution and consumption;

- Develop transversal competences, such as problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and leadership through interdisciplinary group work.

Ljubljana Summer School is a three-week, internationally recognised programme launched in July 2000 at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana will take place from 3 - 21 July 2023.

The programme, which includes many new outstanding topics, is aimed at Bachelor’s and Master’s students, as well as recent graduates and young professionals who wish to acquire new knowledge in specific areas.

SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE AT CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AVILA SPAIN - SUMMER PROGRAM 2023

Aula de Lengua y Cultura Española (Institute of Spanish Language and Culture) will be held at the Universidad Católica de Ávila (Catholic University of Ávila) from 3 - 28 July 2023. 

The following 4 credit courses will be offered:

DAAD “Go East 2023 summer schools”

The DAAD’s “Go East” initiative supports students from Germany wishing to study or research abroad in Central, Southeastern, and Eastern European countries.

Every year, universities from those regions offer Go East summer schools on diverse topics. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Beginning on 1 March 2023, students can apply to attend one of the 33 summer schools offered in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan

The module-structured intensive programme has places for 30 students, led by Dr Sigrun Abels, is designed for industrial engineers and business or economics students.

Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the summer school. Ohm students can earn 6 ECTS for coursework completed within the framework of the Summer School.

The Nagasaki University International Summer Program from 31 July until 11 August 2023 is directed to students who want to learn how to speak and have conversations in Japanese and improve their overall language proficiency.

The program consists of a Japanese Language Class of 20 units, offered on 5 different levels from introductory to intermediate. For N2 and N3 level learners, there are five additional special lectures on the theme of Nagasaki, while the other learners will immerse in an additional Japanese Conversation Class. Classes will be held in Japan Standard time.

Application requirements:

  • Be enrolled at a university overseas
  • Possibility to attend online classes using Zoom audio and video
  • Japanese language proficiency proof for the course that you wish to take
  • For the Introductory and N4 level courses, applicants are required to have English language sufficiency
  • Applicants must prepare the designated textbook and make sure to have it before the beginning of the program. The textbook should be ordered right after applicants are accepted to the program.

Taiwan: NTUST x Project LET’S Go! Summer Program | Application deadline: 10 May 2023

The summer program offered by our partner institution National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) invites interested students to participate in social field work in rural elementary and middle schools of Taiwan, serving as volunteer teachers.

NTUST X Project LET’S Go! Summer Program is a 3- to 6-week opportunity to engage and volunteer with one or more of our partner schools in Taiwan. Project LET’S Go (PLG) is a Taiwanese nonprofit organization. During the program, participants design an innovative curriculum that promotes art, music, science and critical thinking in an English language immersion setting.

The three sessions take place between 20 June and 12 August 2023. NTUST will generously support the participants’ program fees by offering Global Scholarships to three international applicants, each in the amount of NTD$3,000.
