Nuremberg Hydraulic Engineering Symposium 2020

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Our Nuremberg Hydraulic Engineering Symposium 2020 which was planned for 10 December 2020 on the topic of “Weir Gates and Control Devices in Hydraulic Engineering” was cancelled due to the developments in the coronavirus pandemic. The decision to cancel the Symposium was not an easy one to make, as we look forward to organizing and hosting this event each year. We are also aware that many participants look forward to the symposium at the end of the year and value the interesting presentations, personal contact, and collegial exchange during the symposium and the evening before.

We hope for better chances in 2021.

From the quay to the dam

Quays and dams are massive hydraulic structures which have to absorb different loads, are permanently exposed to the water, and exhibit only few similarities in operation and management. The idea of linking up topics from navigable waterway engineering and water-retaining structures was the main focus when choosing the subject for the NWS 2019.

Resilience of hydraulic structures from current perspectives

The resilience of hydraulic structures from current perspectives, i.e. the capacity for hydraulic engineering installations to offset the negative impact of extreme events, overloads or disasters are some of the questions and issues
that were discussed at the 2018 Nuremberg Hydraulic Engineering Symposium on 13 December at Nuremberg Tech.
