  • The degree programme is heavily geared towards the technical engineering aspects of medical engineering. As a result, students will learn about aspects of electrical engineering/hardware development, computer science/software development, and mechanics/construction, which will provide them with the skills they need in order to develop, maintain, and ensure quality assurance for state-of-the-art medical devices, imaging systems, hospital networks, mobile applications, prostheses and innovative implants.
  • The programme has a large practical component, for which a large number of laboratories are available.
  • We are especially proud of our state-of-the-art medical engineering laboratories, where our students can work with and gain a deep insight into clinical equipment such as the following:
    ventilation and anaesthesia, electrosurgery, ultrasound imaging, endoscopy, intubation, spirometry, audiometry, EEG, ECG, TM. Our university also possesses a magnetic resonance imaging machine.

  • Compulsory participation in the subject-specific degree programme test (page in German - test result is not relevant for admission, but is solely intended as a means of self-assessment so that you can make the right decision about your course of study)

  • Required language certificates:

    The language of instruction in this degree programme is German. Applicants with a different native language who do not hold a German bachelor’s degree and have not completed a German-language education at a higher education institution must provide one of the following certificates:

    • German Language Examination for University Admission for foreign applicants (DSH level 2)

    • Test of German as a Foreign Language with above-average results (TestDaF; level 4 or higher in all 4 parts of the examination)
    • Telc German C1 University
