The Electrical Engineering and Information Technology degree programme is the logical consequence of the fact that these two fields will continue to converge and to develop dynamically in the future.
Today, the most important innovations involve a combination of hardware and software. Electrotechnical products are developed and manufactured through the use of software.

Information technology has been gaining in importance in the field of electrical engineering. As a result, there are very few currently developed products that have not been developed and manufactured using computer technology. Software is also used within the products themselves to ensure the seamless functioning of processes that can, in some cases, be highly complex. This also concerns the highly technological installations in the field of electrical energy technology. This evolution will be taken into account thanks to a broad education in computer technology, programming technology, software engineering, and other areas of work within the fields of technical computer science and information technology.

  • Compulsory participation in the subject-specific degree programme test (test result is not relevant for admission, but is solely intended as a means of self-assessment so that you can make the right decision about your course of study)

  • Required language certificates:

The language of instruction in this degree programme is German. Applicants with a different native language who do not hold a German bachelor’s degree and have not completed a German-language education at a higher education institution must provide one of the following certificates:

    • German Language Examination for University Admission for foreign applicants (DSH level 2)

Personal characteristics and skills

You should:

  • be enthusiastic about technology, mathematics and physics,
  • enjoy to “getting to the bottom” of devices,
  • be curious and creative,
  • think analytically, and
  • want an application-oriented university degree that qualifies you for a profession and employment.

Common stumbling blocks

  • Requirements in further mathematics and physics. Both the calculation of electrical networks and the creation of programmes require a considerable amount of abstract thinking.
  • Necessary stamina when creating complex circuits or programmes

How do my skills measure up against the program requirements? How do I prepare myself?
