Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm

Welcome to our website!

The Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg with students from more than 88 nations, with more than 90 partner universities and its variety of international programs is an internationally orientated "University of Applied Sciences". Our state-approved university offers German and foreign Students 3 and 4 year study programs with the accredited degrees bachelor or postgraduate studies with a master degree.

Many foreign students get national as well as international scholarships to study at our university. Exchange Students from partner universities study 1 or 2 semesters in Nuremberg, do projects or write their final thesis at our university. Special mobility programs like financing stays and acknowledging study work are provided for them. In addition to this, there are several nationwide projects of academic cooperation and many guest lecturers from Europe and oversea countries contributing to the international character of our university.

We want our guests and students to enjoy their stay at our university. The application of EU-aid programs, the participation in credit transfer systems (e.g. ECTS), the supply of accomodation and guest apartments or the offer of different language courses for example are some of our efforts to facilitate a pleasant and successful stay here in Nuremberg.

Our "Come-In"-initiative has contributed to a successful integration of our foreign students and guests and was even priced as "examplarily good" by the German Employers' Federation. With our new slogan "Come Together" we especially want to foster and encourage the communication between German and foreign students.
Our slogan: Everybody can participate and learn from the other!

"Think global-act local" - Among carrying out a survey about the stay satisfaction of our foreign students and developing recommendations for improvements, a committee for integration has formed contacts to other local institutions, foreign associations and cultural institutions. The cooperation with authorities, students congregations and other universities is for the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg obvious: for a better communication there is a so called "Runder Tisch", whose members meet each semester in order to discuss about current problems.

The Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg is a member of the "Bürgerbewegung für Menschenrechte", which is an association for the support of intercultural meeting with the intention to reduce prejudices.

Making universities international is an important topic. Together with the university management and the faculties, the International Office (IO) supports the extension and the maintenance of international relations as well as the making of international generation. It offers consultation and advisory service in terms of study abroad and study for foreigners and informs about different aspects on international activities. With regard to international exchange programs it looks after its organization of the exchange procedure and informs about scholarships. In order to make student and professor mobility possible, the International Office applies for the EU-program ERASMUS and manages it as well. It finances the counselling of activities e.g. our cultural and leisure program and offers different service (offer of accomodation for exchange students, counselling in terms of health or personal liability insurance, lending dishes etc.)
